Lowell-based Arvest Bank announced Thursday (Sept. 30) that for the eighth consecutive year, Arvest Mortgage Company has originated more than $1 billion in new mortgage loans.

“This year’s activity has been fueled by the homebuyer tax credit in the first part of the year and the historically low mortgage rates as of late that has reignited consumers to refinance,” Steven Plaisance, executive vice president of Arvest Mortgage Company, said in a statement.

Arvest Bank operates more than 230 bank branches in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Kansas through a network of 16 locally managed banks, each with its own board of directors and management team. These banks operate in 90 communities with 12-hour weekday banking at most locations. Arvest operates a mortgage company, asset management company, insurance division and mortgage servicing company. Arvest is an equal housing lender and member FDIC.
