Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corp. has hired Allan “Mitch” Ross, formerly with ICF, as statewide manager of energy efficiency. The electricity provider announced the hire on Monday (Jan. 22).

Bret Curry, who was formerly in the position, moved into a sales role. AECC has had the position since the 1980s and energy efficiency programs since the 1970s.

Ross has experience in designing, marketing and implementing energy efficiency programs in seven states, including Arkansas. He’s worked in the field for the past several years. Ross, a BPI-certified building analyst, has designed and managed efficiency programs that address common concerns and needs for homes and businesses as well as urban and rural areas. He’s also used his bilingual skills to develop multicultural energy efficiency educational documents and relationships within diverse communities.

“Mitch will work with Arkansas’ 17 local electric distribution cooperatives, providing support and assistance for existing and new energy efficiency programs,” said Sandy Byrd, vice president of public affairs and member services for AECC. “He will offer a wealth of knowledge and experience for electric cooperative members. Particularly in low income states like Arkansas, energy efficiency measures can be a powerful tool to reduce energy usage and save money, thereby providing that home or business with more income to address other needs.”

Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corp. provides electricity to 17 electric distribution cooperatives in Arkansas. The cooperatives provide retail energy to more than 500,000 homes, farms and business in Arkansas and surrounding states.
