Noelle Danylchuk appointed chair of UAMS genetic counseling department
Noelle Danylchuk, a certified genetic counselor at UAMS Northwest Regional Campus, has been named chair for the Department of Genetic Counseling in the College of Health Professions at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. She’s also been named director of the genetics counseling program.
“We’re fortunate to elevate Noelle’s experience and teaching philosophy to a leadership role within the Department of Genetic Counseling,” said Douglas Murphy, dean of the College of Health Professions at UAMS. “Noelle will help us develop the next generation of genetics professionals as we work to advance the health of Arkansans.”
Danylchuk was previously an assistant professor and assistant program director for the genetics counseling department and working at UAMS Northwest Regional Campus in Fayetteville. She will continue to work there and see pediatric genetics patients at the Arkansas Children’s clinic in Lowell.
“I am looking forward to developing our state’s future genetic counseling professionals,” Danylchuk said. “There are only five genetic counselors in Northwest Arkansas, but it is a wonderful health care profession for those who want to make a difference in the lives of patients.”
Danylchuk received a Master of Science in genetic counseling at the University of Texas Health Science Center’s Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences in Houston. She graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, with a Bachelor of Arts in microbiology.
