ASU, UA, ATU top list of online colleges in Arkansas
OnlineColleges.com has released a ranking of the top online higher education programs in Arkansas, based on a number of factors, including affordability, student services and availability of online programs.
Arkansas State University-Mountain Home and its main campus in Jonesboro, the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and Arkansas Tech University in Russellville topped the list, which is based on data from the National Center for Education Statistics’ Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System, according to the website.
ASU-Mountain Home got high marks for affordability and for offering life experience credits. The page noted 13 online programs are offered, and 59% of students are enrolled in distance education.
Half of ASU’s student population is enrolled in distance education, according to the site. It offers 27 online programs.
At UA, 28% of students are enrolled in distance education, and the site shows 11 online programs were offered at the time the Online Colleges ranking was done.
ATU also received high marks for affordability and for offering life experience credit. The school has 36% of its student population enrolled in distance education and offers 12 online programs, according to the site.
Southern Arkansas University Tech in Camden also received high marks for low tuition and life experience credit. Fourteen distance education programs are offered, and 28% of students are enrolled in distance education.
Forty accredited Arkansas colleges and universities were ranked by the website.
All schools were scored on a 10-point scale against 14 different metrics using data from the National Center for Education Statistics.
