Area Health Education Center (AHEC)-Fort Smith will conduct a Free community health fair on Saturday June 12, 2010 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 612 S. 12th St. Fort Smith, AR. Free blood pressure checks will be given. Prescription assistance information will also be given to those who need help paying for medications.
AHEC will also conduct classes in the following subject areas:
Diabetes Information at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Please call 479-242-3175 for reservations due to limited seating for this class.
Health Literacy at 9 a.m. 10:30 a.m. and 12 Noon. Education in the use of the book "What To Do If Your Child Gets Sick" will be given to all parents and care-givers of young children. A Free copy of the book (supply is limited) will be given to participants. Books are available both in Spanish and English.
Breast health/Self care information will be provided by Teresa Jones from Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Health career information will be given at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. for individuals interested in future Careers in the Health Industry.
Home safety information will be provided by volunteers from the American Red Cross.
Bi-lingual representatives will be present.
