Connections: Tyson Foods appoints chief accounting officer

Springdale-based meat producer Tyson Foods Inc. has named Phillip Thomas as its new chief accounting officer and controller effective April 6. He replaces Lori Bondar, who is stepping down and remaining with the company until her retirement at the end of the fiscal year, which is Sept. 30.

Tyson said Bondar will help with the transition.

Thomas, 51, has served in similar capacity roles since 2014. Between 2008 and 2014, he was senior director of financial reporting at Tyson Foods. As vice president, controller and chief accounting officer, Thomas will earn an annual salary of $360,574 and be eligible to participate in the company’s annual incentive plan with a target annual incentive of 55% of base salary. His long-term incentive target award is $175,000 with a mix of stock awards.

Tyson announced the personnel changes in a recent filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, also noting there is no family relationship between Thomas and any director or company officer.
