The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences invested $2.8 million to open the UAMS Health Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Clinic in Bentonville.

The facility, in the Blume building at 609 S.W. Eighth St., comprises an 18,000-square-foot orthopaedic and sports medicine clinic with 28 patient rooms on the ninth floor and a 5,800-square-foot physical therapy clinic on the first floor.

The nine-story, 252,162-square-foot Blume building, formerly known as Bentonville Plaza, recently underwent a multimillion-dollar renovation after Fayetteville asset management company Lefler Capital bought the property for $38 million in December 2024. The multi-tenant, class A office building that’s across from the former Walmart Home Office has opened a UAMS Health facility with fellowship-trained specialists who can help patients regain strength, motion and quality of life.

“UAMS is committed to providing high-quality medical care to patients in all parts of the state,” said Dr. C. Lowry Barnes, UAMS chancellor and chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation. “When we established our UAMS Northwest Regional Campus in Fayetteville in 2007, we made a promise to support the growth in this vibrant region. This new facility is part of the fulfillment of that promise.”

Services provided by physicians include nonsurgical treatments and physical and occupational therapy. Providers can treat arthritis, sports and nonsports injuries, and orthopaedic issues involving the knee, shoulder, elbow, hand, spine and joint replacement care. The new location also offers in-clinic procedures such as corticosteroid injections, trigger point injections, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections and diagnostic ultrasound.

UAMS Health’s orthopaedic and sports medicine team includes fellowship-trained surgeons, primary care sports medicine doctors and certified therapy specialists who work collaboratively to tailor care plans around each patient’s unique needs.

UAMS Health’s Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine program serves patients across Northwest Arkansas at clinics in Fayetteville and Bentonville and a pediatric clinic at Arkansas Children’s Northwest in Springdale. UAMS has about 50 staff at the Bentonville and Fayetteville clinics.
