Jordan Smith, 37, a beloved father, brother, and son, passed away on December 28, 2025. Born on April 13, 1988, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, Jordan’s life was a testament to persistence, laughter, and love.

Jordan was an exceptionally passionate musician. He began studying the trumpet as an elementary school student at St. Boniface Catholic School and carried that passion throughout his life. He earned a Bachelor of Music Education from Arkansas Tech University in 2011 and spent the years that followed educating and inspiring young musicians. While he cherished his time as a member of the Arkansas Band of Distinction, nothing brought him greater joy than performing with the jazz band.

Above all, Jordan loved his children deeply, and being their father was the greatest joy of his life. He loved spending time with his children, whether that meant playing dolls with the girls, throwing a ball with Jack, reading together, cooking in the kitchen—with them happily helping him—or letting them paint his nails and do his makeup. Jordan also had a deep love of reading and found joy and comfort in books throughout his life.

Beyond music, Jordan had a deep love for video games. His family will always treasure memories of spending hours playing The Legend of Zelda together in the back room of Granny and Grandpa Smith’s old house—moments filled with laughter, connection, and joy.

Jordan is survived by his parents, John and Denise Smith of Fort Smith, Arkansas; his three children, Jack Henley, Emilee Caroline, and Claire Elise Smith, also of Fort Smith; his sister, Caitlin, and her husband, Andrew Bobel, of Troy, Michigan; his grandmother, Hazel Tripp of Fort Smith, and his beloved nephew, Augie, and niece, Lottie. He will be deeply missed by his aunts, uncles, cousins, and by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Jordan is preceded in death by his grandparents: Jack and Ann Smith, and his grandfather, Roy Tripp.

A visitation will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, January 5, 2026, at Sacred Heart of Mary Church in Barling, Arkansas, with a Rosary to follow at 6:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, also at Sacred Heart of Mary Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jordan’s memory to Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Jordan’s final resting place will be at Immaculate Conception Church Columbarium, located at 22 North 13th Street, Fort Smith.
