Gary L. Reed, 74, of Mountainburg, Arkansas, passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at a local hospital. He was a retired machine operator for Therma-Tru and was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to his family. He was loved by all!

Gary was born on December 23, 1951, in Clarksville, Arkansas, to the late Jessie “Jess” and Carrie (Elam) Reed. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Melissa Reed; sisters, Doris Shepherd, Charlene Turner, and Melba Burcham; and brothers, Richard Reed and J.C. Reed.

Gary loved the outdoors and cherished sun-filled days. He enjoyed working on cars and took pride in hard work, but above all, family was the center of his life. He was known as a devoted husband, loving father, caring father-in-law, and a proud and cherished grandpa.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Loretta Reed; sons, Jessie Reed of Mountainburg, Justin Reed and wife Juanna all of Mountainburg, Jeremy Reed and wife Shae of Farmington, Alex Patterson of Fort Smith, and Tim Patterson of Mountainburg; 13 grandchildren; and sisters, Alta Shepherd, Barbara Rosson and husband Stan, all of Ozark, Arkansas, Sister in law Nelda Reed of Charleston, Arkansas.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 5, 2026, at Ocker Chapel of Alma, with interment to follow at Nichols Chapel Cemetery in Altus, under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, January 4, 2026, at Ocker Chapel, 917 Highway 64 East, Alma, Arkansas 72921.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Reed, Jamie Reed, Dwayne Reed, Joe Dan Rosson, Josh Rosson and Danny Shephard.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Craig Wilbourn, Wayne Beckham and Joe Burcham.
