Joyce Core, age 87, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by family. Born in Van Buren, Arkansas, Joyce was a devoted mother, a loving wife, and a woman whose gentle spirit and steady strength shaped the lives of everyone who knew her.

Joyce was the daughter of Grace James (Minor) Shibley and Irving Fay Clifford Shibley. She grew up in a close family with her brothers, Pete Shibley and Fay Shibley and her sisters, Mildred Schroder, Grace Johnson, and Betty Trotter. From her childhood days, Joyce learned the importance of faith, family, and hard work.

She married the love of her life, Danny Joe Core, and together they shared 67 years of marriage. Joyce and Danny worked side-by-side as dairy farmers, running the family farm for more than 42 years. Joyce’s dedication to her family and to the land showed in every early morning, every harvest, and every task she completed with love and purpose.

Joyce was a proud mother to her daughter, Brenda DeArmond and husband Curtis and her son, Donald Core. She was also a loving grandmother to Dustin Core, Garrett Core and wife Shanae, Jantzen DeArmond, Garrison DeArmond and wife Kelsea, and Denver DeArmond and a cherished great-grandmother to Clara Core, Alayna DeArmond, Amelia DeArmond, Devyn DeArmond, and Alivia DeArmond.

Joyce was known for her talents in the kitchen, especially her passion for baking. She made birthday cakes for all of her grandchildren, a tradition that filled every celebration with warmth and sweetness. She also enjoyed sewing and quilting, creating handmade pieces that will be treasured by her family for generations.

Joyce was an active and dedicated member of several quilting organizations, including the Logan County Quilting Guild, the Crooked Creek Quilting Club, the Paducah APQS Quilt Show, and the Piece Makers Quilt Club of Paris. Through these groups, she shared her creativity, friendship, and love of quilting with others who shared her passion.

Joyce’s life was a blessing to her family and all who knew her. She will be remembered for her kindness, her strength, her faith, and the love she poured into every meal, every quilt, and every moment spent with those she held dear.
