The Arkansas Hospitality Association (AHA) announced Thursday (Dec. 4) that Alicia Payseno has been hired as chief executive officer, effective Jan. 5.
Payseno is director of economic development for the city of Cabot and previously led the Maumelle Area Chamber of Commerce. In Cabot, she oversees commercial recruitment, business expansion and community development initiatives that have helped drive the city’s growth.
She also holds leadership roles with the Arkansas Economic Developers & Chamber Executives and the Arkansas Municipal League. AHA leaders said Payseno’s background in economic development aligns well with the needs of Arkansas’ hospitality sector, one of the state’s largest economic engines. Her experience building business environments, strengthening partnerships and supporting member-driven organizations will help AHA enhance advocacy, workforce support and statewide industry coordination.
“We are delighted to welcome Alicia as our new CEO,” said Gary Patel, AHA board chairman. “Her proven track record in strategic growth and her passion for the state’s potential are exactly what the association needs to navigate the current landscape and drive the industry forward. We are confident her leadership will deliver immense value to our members and the state’s economy.”

“Alicia has a contagious passion for the hospitality industry,” said Jim Shamburger, AHA board member. “Her proven success leading membership-based organizations will make her an effective leader for AHA.”
Payseno said she aims to strengthen AHA’s role as the statewide voice for hospitality by expanding member value, improving advocacy and building organizational capacity for long-term growth.
“The hospitality industry is at the heart of Arkansas’ local economies,” Payseno said. “Restaurants, hotels and tourism are major employers in the state and vital to quality of life. Stepping into this role provides a meaningful opportunity to support the small business owners and workers who make this industry thrive.”
