Mary S Velte

Mary Strope Velte, 92, passed from this life October 29, 2025. She was born May 5, 1933 in Clarksville, AR to Frederick Strope and Louise Margaret (Becker) Strope. Mary graduated from St. Scholastica in 1951, and she attended St. Michael Catholic Church. She had owned a Beauty Control business, and she was a member of Mercy Auxiliary. She enjoyed shopping and she was an avid Bridge player.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Velte Sr.; and a great-grandson, Nathan Stovall.

She is survived by her son, Carl Velte Jr. and wife Debbi; granddaughters, Michelle Stovall and husband Lee, and Carrie King and husband Chris; great-grandchildren, Nicholas Friend, Ethan Stovall, Luke Stovall, John-Michael Stovall, Christian King and wife Marley, and Sebastian King.

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 12, 2025, from 5 – 7 PM at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith.

Rosary will be said Thursday at 8:30 AM in Edwards Chapel, with Funeral Service to follow at 9:00 AM. Burial will be in Fort Smith National Cemetery.
