Gary L. Sharum, age 72, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Fort Smith to Arthur and Lorene (Kremers) Sharum, Gary lived a life marked by compassion, dedication, and a deep love for others. He was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Parish and graduated from St. Anne’s Academy in 1971. He earned his LPN degree from Arkansas Valley Vo-Tech and later received both a Bachelor of Arts in Health Management and a Master of Arts in Human Resources from Ottawa University. Gary devoted 45 years to the Mercy Hospital System, where he was a respected mentor and friend to many in the healthcare community. His passion for helping others and his generous spirit left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

He was known for his giving spirit, his unwavering support for those around him, and his passion for music, which spanned six decades. A talented musician with extensive knowledge of musical instruments, Gary found joy and connection through his art. His warmth, wisdom, and willingness to lend a helping hand will be deeply missed.

Above all, he was a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather, and a trusted friend. A source of guidance, support and unconditional love.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Melinda Gayle Sharum.

He is survived by his wife, Vicky Lovett-Sharum; his children Neal Sharum (Tiffany), Lindsey Sharum; his stepchildren Robby (Scott) Williams (Tanner), Brady Williams (Alisha), Zach Williams (Emma), and Meghan Bretz; and his grandchildren Adelyne, Jax, Camden, Gannon, Jude, Avery, Parker, and Penelope. He is also survived by his siblings Rick Sharum (Terri), Melissa Key (Ron), and Kevin Sharum (Rhianna).

Rosary will be said on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, followed by Mass. Services and cremation are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.

Gary’s legacy of kindness, mentorship, and music will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
