Floyd Allen Bernett, 85, of Richardson, Texas passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2025. He was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on February 13, 1940, to the late Floyd Everett Bernett and Mary Jones Bernett. Floyd graduated from Tulsa Central High School and then served in the Oklahoma Air National Guard as a loadmaster on C-97 aircraft where he spent one year on active duty and four years in the reserve. He married Wanda Marie Smith on February 1, 1965. They spent 60 devoted years together and raised their family in Oklahoma and Texas.

Floyd enjoyed a successful career in the oil and gas industry and worked in the oil fields of Oklahoma and Texas for almost 30 years. He had a passion for traveling through the country with family and friends in an RV and continued to do so late into his life. He met and maintained relationships with many friends during his travels. He especially loved spending summers in Colorado and did so for as long as he was able. He loved the Lord and regularly attended and volunteered at church wherever he lived or traveled.

He is survived by his wife Wanda, his sons Tim Bernett (wife Carol) and Matt Bernett (wife Erin) and three grandchildren, Hannah Bernett (26), Noah Bernett (23) and Carter Bernett (21), all of whom lived near him in the DFW area and spent time with him often. He is also survived by his two brothers C.R. Bernett (wife Linda) and Doug Bernett (wife Patti), both in the Tulsa area.

A celebration of his life will be held at the Fort Smith National Cemetery at 11am, Friday November 14, 2025. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Faith Presbyterian Hospice in Dallas.

His family wants everyone to know that he was a loving and devoted husband, dad, and Poppy. He encouraged and supported all of us. We miss him greatly, but we rejoice knowing that he is at home with his Lord and Savior Jesus. We can’t wait to be with him again and laugh at his many stories!
