Harry James “Jim” Cummings, Sr. of Van Buren, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, August 28, 2025, at his home. He was born on August 21, 1938, in Penn Yann, New York, to the late Calvin Kelly Cummings and Margaret Jane (Gibbs) Cummings. He was 87 years old. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his late wife, Hazel Lucille (Brown) Cummings; and a brother, Robert Cummings.

Jim served 21 years in the U.S. military. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War, and during the Vietnam War, he served and retired from the United States Air Force. After departing from the military, Jim was a truck driver. He loved to watch car racing, enjoyed traveling, but his biggest enjoyment was being with his family and family functions. Jim was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Maxine Clara (Herman) Cummings; two sons, Harry Cummings, Jr. and wife Vickie of Atkins and Terry Cummings and wife Sandra of Alma; two brothers, David Cummings and wife Peggy of Geneva, New York, and Pete Cummings and wife Winnie of Dundee, New York; (6) grandchildren; and (10) great-grandchildren.

A family held memorial graveside service, with full military honors, will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, September 8th at Cecil Chapel Cemetery, located at 360 Polk 17 Cove, AR 71953.
