Perry David Duncan, 64, of Van Buren passed away on August 13, 2025 in Tulsa, OK surrounded by his family. He was born on September 18, 1960 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was a retired school teacher and principal for several school districts.
Perry grew up in Van Buren and was a lifelong learner. Graduating from Van Buren High School in 1979, earning a BA in Communication Journalism, and a BS in Public Administration from University of the Ozarks Clarksville, AR in 1987, and finally completed the Masters of Educational Leadership program through University of Colorado Denver, CO in 2012.
Perry’s teaching career started in 1987 with the Alma School District. He taught at Alma through 1999 before embarking on what would become his life’s adventure… teaching in Alaska. Beginning in 2001, Perry spent the following 20’ish years living and teaching in remote places like Atqasuk, Barrow, and Gambell Alaska. Perry met and married his beloved wife Angel in 2005 and together they had 2 children. In 2020 Perry decided it was time to return to his roots in Van Buren so his children could grow up around their Grandparents. Since retiring, Perry has spent his time with family and was an avid gardener
Perry is survived by his wife, Angel Duncan of the home; a daughter, Kaylee Duncan of Van Buren; a son, Seth Duncan of Van Buren; his parents, Jerry and Dorothy Duncan of Van Buren; two brothers, James and wife Karla Duncan and Paul Duncan all of Fort Smith; his fur baby Dusty of the home.
The family will visit with relatives and friends from 4:30-6:30 P.M. on Monday August 18, 2025 at Ocker Funeral Home, 700 Jefferson St. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home Van Buren.
