Mary Ann Elizabeth Grimes, age 95, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, July 27, 2025, in Fort Smith. She was born on June 24, 1930, in Subiaco, Arkansas, a daughter of Louise (Vonder Heide) Lux and Leo Lux Sr.
On June 10, 1951, Mary Ann married William C. Grimes. A dedicated and hardworking woman, she was the proud owner of the White Spot #2 and Ann’s Ceramics. Above all else, Mary Ann was devoted to her family. She would want to be remembered as the heart and lifeline of her loved ones, finding her greatest joy in the sound of her children’s laughter. Her deep love for Jesus and her church family was a cornerstone of her life.
Mary Ann is survived by 10 children Maurice Britt, wife Dee and their children and grandchildren, Kenneth Grimes, wife Lana, and their children and grandchildren, David Grimes wife Michele and their children, Donald Grimes, wife Tammy and their children and grandchildren, Carolyn McClain, her daughter and grandchildren, Patricia Free, husband Chester, and their children and grandchildren, Sharon Jones husband, James, and their children and grandchildren, Shirley Grimes, Nancy Lovelady, and their children and grandsons and great grandson, Michael Grimes, wife Tracy, and their children and granddaughter, Jimmie Grimes, wife Angela, and their children and grandchildren. Mary Ann also leaves behind seven nieces, three nephews, and her sister-in-law, Theresia Lux.
Mary Ann is preceded in death by her beloved husband, William C Grimes; her parents, Leo and Louise Lux; and her two brothers: Leo (Sonny) Lux Jr. and Larry Lux.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Lewis Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. the following Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at Living Word Church with Tom Ballard officiating. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the Fort Smith National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Aaron Grimes, Matthew Grimes, Austin Grimes, Matthew Joslin, Doyle Evans, and Daniel Romo. Honorary Pallbearers are Larry Joe Lux, Bobby Lux, and Stephen Lux. Services under the care of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
