Jody (Glenda Sue) Summers, 78, of Greenwood, Arkansas, passed from this life on August 5, 2025. She was born on December 14, 1946, in Hackett, Arkansas, to William and Leola Best.
Jody was a hardworking, kind-hearted, and creative woman. She spent 17 years as a press operator at Rheem, where she retired. Prior to her time at Rheem, she worked at Greenwood Industries as a line lead and also waitressed at the Willows Restaurant, where she would serve up a side of sharp wit with a smile.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frankie Michael Summers, and her parents. She is survived by her cherished fur baby, Tiny Tim; her two sons, Clinton Summers of Gahanna, Ohio and Trenton Summers (Jamie); seven grandchildren, who were the joy of her life, Caden Summers (Jeff), Douglas Pullen (Alex), Sarah Gann, Justin Summers, Ashton Pullen (Heather), Brian Pullen, and William Summers, she also leaves behind seven great-grandchildren, Greyson Freeman, Sailor and Skip Gann, Briggsdon and Brynnix Pullen, Ivy Pullen and Finley Summers. Her love extended to her sisters-in-law, Joyce and Rita Summers, her four treasured fur grandbabies—Gracie, Pepper, Sadie, and Daphne—and numerous dear friends and neighbors.
Jody, lovingly known as “Nanna,” lived a life centered around her family. After retiring, she fully embraced her role as a grandmother—driving grandkids to school, band practice, and ballgames, cheering them on at every opportunity. Her presence was a constant comfort, and her love was poured into everything she did—especially the holidays, where her famous baked corn casserole, sweet yams, and mashed potatoes brought everyone together and will never be forgotten.
She had a never-ending sweet tooth and always managed to sneak a treat—or two—. But when you were sick, there was nothing better than her warm, homemade potato soup. It was more than a meal—it was comfort in a bowl, made with love and care, and it somehow always made you feel better.
She found joy in the simple things—piddling in the yard, sneaking off to the casino for a little fun, and crafting creative projects that reflected her spirit. Her heart was truly made of gold, and her legacy lives on in the family she nurtured, supported, and adored.
In accordance with Jody’s wishes, the family will honor her with a private memorial for immediate family, with burial to follow at Pine Log Cemetery in Booneville, Arkansas. Arrangements are under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
