Oleta Snow Kennedy, 91, of Springdale, Arkansas, passed on July 11, 2025, just two days after celebrating her 91st birthday. Born on July 9, 1934, in Coal Hill, Arkansas, Oleta lived a life full of love, laughter, creativity, and service.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Tony Kennedy; her parents, George and Lottie Snow; and her sister, Claudine Franklin.
Oleta is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Denise Peacock (Ken) of Winslow, AR, and Paula Peacock (RJ) of Bald Knob, AR. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Toni McCrory (Adam), Blake Peacock (Ashley), Trevor Peacock (Lauren), Brad Peacock (Tara), and Laura Story (Kyle); and through her cherished great-grandchildren: Addison, Aubrey, Brantley, Mallory, Olivia, Rhett, Mace, Silas, Josiah, and Lottie.
Oleta led a vibrant and hardworking life. She began her career as a secretary at Swift Meat Company and later worked alongside her husband to help start Kennedy Tile & Marble. She also served at the post office in Fort Chaffee and was the proud owner of Main Street Fabric in Greenwood, where her passion for sewing and quilting found a home.
Oleta was a long-time member and leader in the Arkansas Extension Homemakers and the Belle Point Quilters Guild. She served on the Fair Board for the Arkansas/Oklahoma State Fair and was a member of Southpointe Church in Fort Smith, and later at New Hope Church in Springdale.
Oleta’s hands were rarely still—always sewing, quilting, knitting, gardening, pottery or making something beautiful. She loved to laugh, had a sweet tooth that never faded, and most of all, she loved her family.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the caregivers at The Blossoms of Oakdale for their kindness and patience during Oleta’s final years of life.
Though she will be deeply missed, Oleta leaves behind a legacy stitched with love, kindness, and joy. A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday July 16 at 1:00pm to honor the memories she gave to all who knew her.
