Kathleen Ann Rosentreter, age 79, passed away peacefully in her home on July 19, 2025, in Barling, Arkansas. She was born on September 22, 1945, in Berrien County, Michigan, to Adolf Mattner and Genevieve Krigelski. Kathleen was raised on a family farm, where she developed the strength and spirit that would carry her through life.

She built a long and respected career in the electronics department at Sears, where she worked for an incredible 47 years—37 of those full-time. As one of the few women in her department, she made her mark with determination and grit, earning the respect of her colleagues and customers alike.

Kathleen was a down-to-earth woman who found joy in life’s simple pleasures—working word searches, watching NCIS, shopping, and the occasional trip to the casino. She adored her dogs and cherished their companionship over the years. With a sharp wit and a mischievous sense of humor, Kathleen was known for being ornery in the best way and always up for a laugh. In her younger days, she was a “cool and groovy chick,” known for being stylish and ahead of her time.

She is survived by her two children, Todd Rosentreter and his wife Joni, and Jeanine Eversole and her husband Michael, all of Van Buren, Arkansas; six grandchildren: Amber, Robert, Hayden, Shae, Brook, and Amanda; and seven great-grandchildren: Hadleigh, Paisley, Harper, Rowan, Thea, Ashton, and Emma. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends—including her best friend and neighbor of 57 years, Sue Voss.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, Adolf and Genevieve; all six of her siblings; and her grandson-in-law, Bryant Clifton.

A memorial service will be held at the Fort Smith National Cemetery, with details soon to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Fort Smith Animal Haven, in honor of Kathleen’s love for animals.
