Gary Wayne Patton, 81, of Paris, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2025.

Born on September 19, 1943, in Gore, Oklahoma, Gary was the son of the late Tillman George and Daisy Inez (Garrison) Patton. A proud veteran, Gary served his country honorably in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and later retired from the Arkansas Air National Guard. His commitment to service extended beyond the military as he went on to serve his local community as a Sargent with the Fort Smith Police Department.

Gary was known for his kind and gentle personality, his love of horses, dogs and team penning.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Theresia Patton; a son, Randall Cornell Patton and his brother, Tillman Patton Jr.

He is survived by his children: daughter, Heidi Shores of Texas; and sons, Daniel Patton of Texas and Erik Patton of Alma, Arkansas. He also leaves behind a loving legacy of grandchildren: Ashton Marie Patton, Kendall Thomas, Kendrick Thomas, Arielle Thomas, Austin Shores, and Heather Shores; and great-grandchildren: Madlyn Patton, Natalie Knowlton, Serenity Knowlton, Bruce Thomas, Haylee Thomas, Elliot Thomas, Stetson Blizzard, Axle Shores, Nathan Shores and Hazel Shores. Gary is also survived by his brothers, Bob Patton and wife Eva, Jack Patton, and Rick Patton; and his sister, Ollie Lou Scroggins and husband James.

A memorial service with military honors will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, July 18, 2025, at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren, Arkansas. Arrangements are under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.

Gary was a friend to everyone he met and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
