Arkansas soybean producers are invited to apply for the 15th annual Grow for the Green Soybean Yield Challenge (GFTG), a competition that rewards high yields, spotlights innovation and promotes best practices to benefit producers statewide. Applications are open through August 1.
GFTG is administered by the Arkansas Soybean Association (ASA) and funded by the Arkansas Soybean Promotion Baord (ASPB) with support from the University of Arkansas Extension Services.
“I look forward to seeing all the hard work of our farmers and soybean producers this year,” Brad Doyle, a soybean producer from Poinsett County and ASPB board chairman. “Not only does the Grow for the Green Soybean Yield Challenge raise awareness of the soybean industry, but it also helps operations across the state. The production practice data from the winners is shared with farmers in hopes that they can have greater yields.”
In addition to rewarding winners, the challenge gathers and shares production data to help growers adopt effective, yield-boosting practices.
Cash prizes are awarded to the top three producers in each division. First place receives $7,500; second place receives $5,000; and third place receives $2,500.
The categories include seven region – Northeast Delta, Northeast, White River Basin, Central and Grand Prairie, East Central Delta, Southeast Delta, and Western. There is also a Conventional category.
