Average wages rise in Crawford and Sebastian counties

Average weekly wages in the fourth quarter of 2024 were up 5.36% in Crawford County and up 3% in Sebastian County compared with the same quarter in 2023. The number of business establishments also rose in each county during the quarter.
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data posted June 4 had Sebastian County average weekly wages during the fourth quarter at $1,065, up 3% compared with $1,034 in the same period of 2023. The Crawford County average weekly wage in the fourth quarter was $983, up 5.36% compared with $933 in the same period of 2023.
Fourth quarter figures are the most recent available and are subject to revision.
The average weekly wage in Sebastian County on an annual basis was $1,061 in 2024, up from $1,022 in 2023. The county’s average weekly wage in the past 10 years has risen 36.4% from $778 in 2015 to the $1,061 in 2024, according to the BLS data.
The average weekly wage in Crawford County on an annual basis was $938 in 2024, up from $906 in 2023. The county’s average weekly wage has risen 44.1% from $651 in 2015 to the $938 in 2024.
Sebastian County had an estimated 3,776 business establishments in the fourth quarter, more than the 3,753 in the same period of 2023. Crawford County had 1,304 business establishments in the fourth quarter, more than the 1,268 in the same quarter of 2023.
In the past 10 years, the number of business establishments in Sebastian County has risen 0.9% from an average of 3,719 in 2015 to an average of 3,752 in 2024. In Crawford County, the business establishment average in 2024 was 1,281, up 2% compared with 1,256 in 2015.
ARKANSAS, NATIONAL WAGES
Among the 369 largest U.S. counties, 357 had over-the-year increases in average weekly wages, according to the BLS report. In the fourth quarter of 2024, average weekly wages for the nation reached $1,507, a 5% increase over the year. Crawford and Sebastian counties are not among the 369 largest U.S. counties.
Santa Clara, Calif., had the largest fourth quarter over-the-year county wage gain at 15%. Washington County, Ark., was tied for second with King County (Washington), Benton County, Ark., ranked fourth, and Ada County (Idaho) was ranked fifth.
Benton County average weekly wages were $1,491 in the fourth quarter of 2024, up 12.9% compared with the same quarter in 2023. Washington County average weekly wages in the quarter were $1,275, up 13.2% compared with the 2023 quarter.
Among Arkansas’ contiguous states, Arkansas posted the highest percentage average weekly wage growth of 5.9%.
