Mac Pinkerton has been hired to be chief operating officer of the logistics subsidiary at Fort Smith-based ArcBest. The transportation industry veteran is set to begin in the new role on Jan. 5, 2026.
Pinkerton is set to replace Steven Leonard who is retiring in June after 24 years with ArcBest, the company noted in its Thursday (May 29) press release. The logistics operation – asset-light unit – will report to ArcBest President Seth Runser between Leonard’s retirement and Pinkerton’s arrival.
“We’re excited for Mac to join our team. He brings a depth of experience, a passion for customers and extensive supply chain knowledge,” Judy McReynolds, ArcBest chairman and CEO, said in the statement. “We’re confident in his ability to drive increased value for customers and shareholders.”
Pinkerton has worked for Eden Prairie, Minn.-based C.H. Robinson for 28 years, and most recently was president of North America Surface Transportation. Pinkerton joined the company in 1997 as a transportation representative and worked his way up the management ranks. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Mississippi State University.
Pinkerton will help lead a subsidiary responsible for almost 37% of the company’s total first-quarter 2025 revenue.
