Wendell Ray Powell, 62, of Van Buren, passed away Sunday, March 30, 2025 at Baptist Hospital Heart of Hospice in Fort Smith. He was born February 3, 1963 in Denison, Texas to the late Wendell and Annita (Box) Powell.

He served with The United States Marines during The Lebanon Civil War, and he later worked as a systems analyst for Baldor Motors and Drives later known as ABB.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Zetta L. Dunn Powell of the home; two daughters, Tammy Martin and husband Anthony of Mount Sterling, Kentucky, and Rebecca Jackson and husband Axel of Van Buren; two sons, Brandon Hogue and wife Tonya of Greenwood and Wendell “R.J.” Ray Powell and wife Ruth of Van Buren; a brother, Terry Lee Powell of Clarksville; grandchildren, Shauna McCoy and husband Aaron, Jason McLendon and wife Dianna, Nathan Hogue, Melody Powell, Anita Powell, Connor Almond, Bonnie Jackson, Thomas Jackson and Samuel Jackson; great grandchildren, Trinity McLendon, Alyssa McLendon, Noah McCoy, Mason Kirby, Xander Kirby and Maddie McLendon.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2025 at The Current Church Annex Location, 1819 Rena Road, Van Buren. Interment with military honors will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Van Buren.

Pallbearers will be Cory Obar, William Almond, Brandon Hogue, R.J. Powell, Axel Jackson and Rebecca Jackson.

The family will visit with friends from 9:00 a.m. until service time Thursday, April 3, 2025 at the church annex location.
