Don C. Taylor, 90, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2025. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Don lived a life defined by service, integrity, and quiet strength.

Born on March 10, 1935, Don dedicated much of his life to protecting and serving others. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. In 1960, he graduated from the Arkansas State Police Troop School and went on to spend 27 distinguished years as a Trooper and Criminal Investigator. After retiring from the State Police, Don continued his service to the community as Chief of the Fort Smith Police Department for another nine years.

Don is survived by his loving wife, Juanita; two sons, Claud Taylor (wife Brenda) and Tim Taylor (wife Angela); sister Diana Christensen (husband Scott); grandchildren Brittany Brown (husband Micah), Emily Hurst (husband Joey), Doctor Nathan Taylor and Genie, and Hayden Taylor; and great-grandchildren Nova Brown, Adlee Brown, Elijah Brown, and Shepherd Hurst.

Known for his unwavering dedication and willingness to help with any task, Don left an indelible mark on all who knew him. He was very proud of his family and would happily tell anyone about his grandchildren’s success. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his compassion, leadership, and enduring commitment to others.

A private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Heart of Hospice 1401 S. Waldron Road, Suite 201, Fort Smith, AR 72903 in Don’s memory.
