Rufus Lewis, 76, of Hartford, Arkansas, peacefully passed away on March 20, 2025. He was born on July 1, 1948, in Paris, Arkansas, to Lester and Louise (Stovall) Lewis.
Rufus was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, whose life was marked by integrity, faith, and dedication. He worked diligently for many years at Pradco, where he earned a reputation for his strong work ethic and commitment. Outside of his career, Rufus found great joy in carpentry, hunting, and fishing—hobbies that reflected his love for the outdoors. His faith in God was the foundation of his life, providing him with peace and strength throughout his journey.
Rufus was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Louise Lewis; his wife, Linda Lewis; his son, Timothy Lewis; and his brother, John Lewis.
He is survived by his children: Rebecca Russell and her husband Darrell of Huntington, AR; Sabrina and her husband Bahaa Asous of Van Buren, AR; Tiria Allen and her husband Jason of Hartford, AR; Steven Lewis and his wife Margaret of Hartford, AR; and Rufus A. Lewis and his wife Stephanie of Hackett, AR. He is also lovingly remembered by his 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, his two sisters; Mary Toon and Lacretia Reed, and two sister-in-laws; Sue Nicholson and Janis Chapen.
Rufus’s legacy of love, faith, and dedication will live on in the hearts of his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A private viewing for family will take place on Saturday, March 22, 2025. A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 24, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Hartford Memorial Cemetery. Reverends Ladd Hurst and James Myers will officiate the service, and the pallbearers will include Joshua Russell, Kaleb Lewis, Jordan Lewis, Zack Asous, Shane Elmore, Hunter Elmore, and Ricky Rodriquez.
Services are entrusted to Lewis Funeral Chapel.
