Diamond State Networks names Jill McDaniel as CEO

Diamond State Networks (DSN) has promoted Jill McDaniel as the organization’s new chief executive officer. McDaniel, who has been serving as interim CEO since August 2024, steps into the permanent role following her tenure as chief operating officer.

“Our board of directors is pleased to have Jill in this leadership role. With deep expertise in the telecommunications industry and a strong background in strategic growth, she will drive our mission forward and enhance our impact throughout Arkansas for our stakeholders,” said Mitchell Johnson, chair of Diamond State Networks board of directors.

McDaniel has 25 years of experience in telecommunications, including leadership roles at Irby Utilities, Ritter Communications and Allo Communications. For the past nine years, she has focused on advancing rural broadband initiatives and is an advocate for broadband accessibility.

“I’m honored to lead Diamond State Networks and work alongside such a dedicated team,” said McDaniel. “Our focus will remain on providing top-tier middle-mile infrastructure to our members and partners, empowering them to deliver reliable, high-speed internet to communities across Arkansas. As we expand our network, we’re committed to ensuring that every Arkansan has access to the digital tools they need to thrive.”

DSN is owned by 14 of Arkansas’ electric cooperatives who are partnering for the largest fiber optic broadband investment in the state’s history, with more than $1.8 billion in network being constructed across nearly 70% of the state.
