Virginia “Pat” Ann Ward

Virginia “Pat” Ann Ward, age 87 of Fort Smith, Arkansas, entered her heavenly home on Friday, January 10, 2025.

Born on September 17, 1937, in Prairie Grove, Arkansas, she was the cherished daughter of Edna Loree Hembree and Robert Compton Thompson. Pat shared a wonderful life with her husband, Fred Ward Jr., whom she married on May 1, 1959. Together, they created countless joyful memories over their many years of marriage. 

In her leisure time, Pat found joy in crocheting, embroidery, sewing, and baking. She will be lovingly remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Pat is survived by her two children, Ida Boyd and Kathy London; four grandchildren, Stephanie London, Stacy Whalen, Chris Boyd, and Travis Boyd; and thirteen great-grandchildren, Kyleigh, Addison, Parker, Raiyn, Ammalyn, Azryn, Adam, Semaj, Tete, Christopher, Serenity, Blakeleigh and Rylynn. 

She is preceded in death by her mother, Edna L. Snyder; her sisters, Helene Kassa and Lavonne Harvey; her beloved husband, Fred Ward Jr.; and her grandson, Bryan Boyd. 

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at River Glenn Cremation and Funeral Services, located at 1805 North A Street in Fort Smith, AR 72901. The Funeral Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, also at the River Glenn Chapel. Interment will take place at Roselawn Cemetery following the service. Jade Fleming is to officiate. Pallbearers will be Chris Boyd, Matt Phelan, Kaleb Phelan, Richard Chambers, Roman Williams, and Nathan Whalen. Honorary Pallbearers are Nathan Whalen Jr., Weston Whalen, and Braxton Canada.
