Conway-based internet provider TCW announced Tuesday (Jan. 28) a $12 million project to bring fiber internet service to the city of El Dorado.
Along with the investment, TCW will open an office in the city to house their South Arkansas regional operations.
The project will provide a 100% fiber connection to every home and business in the city, offering fast and reliable internet and TCW’s best-in-class customer support to all of El Dorado’s 18,000 residents.
“TCW is thrilled to invest in El Dorado,” said TCW CEO Brad Brannon. “We have been impressed with the vision laid out by city and community leaders, and we look forward to contributing to the city’s advancement. That begins with ensuring all residents have access to reliable, fast internet service.”
TCW’s plans include building a primarily underground fiber network that provides reliability in the volatile weather conditions in Arkansas. Up to 8 Gig service will be available for all customers, providing the fastest and most reliable connections available in El Dorado.
“I want our city to have choices for internet service. Right now, what I hear from residents is they want something better than the only choice they currently have,” said El Dorado Mayor Paul Choate. “What I like about TCW is not only are they providing a service, but they want to be actively engaged in El Dorado and care about making our city an attractive place to live and work.”
El Dorado is part of a regional expansion by TCW into South Arkansas, that includes the previously announced fiber internet services serving the city of Magnolia.
TCW expects to hire 15-20 local employees in the region, enabling the company to handle sales, installation, repair, and customer support in-house.
Construction is expected to begin during the second quarter with the first customers being connected later this year.
