Doula Alliance of Arkansas names Lori Ross as founding executive director
The Doula Alliance of Arkansas announced Tuesday (Nov. 19) Lori Ross as its founding executive director. With three decades of leadership experience in the medical and nonprofit sectors, Ross brings knowledge and expertise to the Alliance’s mission of empowering and supporting doulas across the state.
Doulas are trained professionals who provide physical, emotional and informational support to clients before, during and shortly after childbirth.
Founded in August, the Doula Alliance of Arkansas is a collaborative initiative focused on improving maternal health outcomes in Arkansas by advancing the profession of birth work through advocacy and education, improving access to high-quality doula services statewide, and providing a professional support system for Arkansas doulas.
As executive director, Ross will spearhead initiatives to enhance doula access, training, and advocacy across Arkansas, helping the Alliance fulfill its vision of supporting families during pregnancy, birth, and beyond.
“We couldn’t ask for a more skilled and compassionate person to lead our team,” said Nicolle Fletcher, co-founder and president of the Doula Alliance of Arkansas. “Her extensive experience in healthcare and her dedication to building strong community connections align perfectly with our goals to collaborate with the physician community and improve Arkansas’s maternal health outcomes. Lori’s leadership will drive the Doula Alliance forward as we expand our services and support for families across Arkansas.”
Ross previously served as the chief development officer and corporate director of foundation and marketing at Conway Regional Health System. In her 22-year tenure, she was pivotal in shaping the organization’s public image and brand, strengthening community relationships, and leading award-winning and results-driven marketing and fundraising efforts.
Ross holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration with an emphasis in marketing from the University of Central Arkansas. She is recognized as a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) by the International Coaching Federation and is board certified as an Executive Coach.
