Treaty Oak Clean Energy, LLC of Austin, Texas, a company that develops, builds, and operates utility-scale solar and battery storage projects, announced the development of a 100-megawatt, 1,000-acre solar facility in southeastern Grant County.

The project is called the Redfield Solar Project and is set to break ground in late 2024. It will create approximately 200 jobs during construction and is estimated to be operational in the late spring or summer of 2026.

“We’re thrilled to kick off this project and become part of the Grant County community,” said Treaty Oak CEO Christopher Elrod. “This project will not only bring jobs, property tax revenue, and other economic benefits to the region, but it will also play a significant role in contributing to Arkansas leading the way as an ‘All of the Above’ energy state.”

Treaty Oak will host a job fair and open house from 6-8:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 24, at The Ridge at Little Creek, 1915 Rock St. in Sheridan. Treaty Oak representatives will be at the event to answer questions and share information about the project, construction timelines, and aspects of the solar facility.

Available positions include heavy equipment operators; solar installers; mechanical, civil and electrical laborers; helpers; journeymen; and electricians. When complete, the solar facility will employ two to three technicians to lead ongoing operations and maintenance.

“We estimate that construction, which is scheduled to start later this year, will take approximately 16-18 months,” said Treaty Oak Vice President of Construction Greg Karney. “We’re excited to offer the local workforce these good-paying, high-quality jobs, and we expect this additional economic activity will benefit the local economy.”
