Do you use artificial intelligence (AI) software in your work, and if so, how so? Every job site is technology-driven, starting with the initial CAD models, equipment driven by 3D GPS technology, and our surveying teams who ensure the site is built to plan with the use of drones and surveying technology. This includes a growing presence in AI as we adapt to the changes in this technology.

Whats the top challenge you have faced as a leader, and how did you overcome it? How to lead myself. We believe as leaders that our job is to fix others, but it’s not. If we truly desire to be a dynamic leader, we first have to lead ourselves by discovering our own brokenness and overcome our own weaknesses. Then, we truly can affect the lives of others.

What are some aspects of leadership you are still working to improve? I believe leadership is a journey through your life. Today, my focus is to discover the beliefs that drive people’s behaviors. This allows you to reach people where they are in their journey and truly be effective as a leader.

How do you stay current with industry trends and changes? One of my favorite quotes is, “In times of change, learners will inherit the Earth, while the knowers are beautifully equipped to no longer exist.” I believe we must always focus on growth. This requires us to continuously be students of learning. I achieve this through reading, reviewing industry, local and state business trends, analyzing economic indicators and networking with other business leaders.

How do you relax? I love to spend time with my family and travel. Life is about experiences and memories; travel provides these experiences and allows me to make incredible memories with my family.

What advice would you give someone wanting to be a leader in your industry? Leadership is a constant focus on the three E’s — execution, expertise, and engagement. Great companies achieve all three of these equally. As a leader, your focus must be to move all three of these at the same time within your organization.

What is the best business advice someone has ever given you? Everything in life is a blessing or a lesson. Recognize the good in your life and learn from every experience. This defines your faith and creates growth.

How significant to you is developing a diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) culture within your organization? Our vision statement is “Moving the hearts and minds of people.” This requires us to create an environment that builds trust and love for each other. People want to be a part of a company and culture that truly cares about them as a person. Our goal is always to meet them where they are at, embrace them and show that we care.
