Whats the top challenge you have faced as a leader, and how did you overcome it? Developing an idea into a profitable business model, based on European Union practices, that had not yet been adopted in the U.S. We conquered the challenge by recruiting a team with the needed skill sets who were capable of building something from the ground up. When things didn’t go as expected, we would step back, adjust, then start again until the vision became reality.

What advice would you give someone wanting to be a leader in your industry? In any industry or leadership role at home, I would say to be humble, learn and figure out how to positively influence your team to achieve the goals that have been set.

How do you stay current with industry trends and changes? I read business news and articles daily, looking for pieces that relate to our business or that team members will find useful. Also, use Google keyword searches to send emails when associated stories are published.

Do you use artificial intelligence (AI) software in your work, and if so, how? Yes. We use it during research about product uses in various geographic regions and demographics to gain insights into different markets and behaviors.

How do you relax? Relaxing to me is spending time hunting, hiking, and being outdoors with family and friends.

How significant is developing a diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) culture within your organization? We are a multicultural team, and we strive to create the best workplace possible for everyone.

What are some aspects of leadership you are still working to improve? Being more patient when mentoring and coaching team members on keeping a positive attitude when unexpected challenges arise.

What is the best business advice someone has ever given you? I have been advised in business by many, and I would like to recognize and pass on some of the great ones. My mother, Barbara, taught me about empathy and the importance of seeking to understand others’ perspectives, which can strengthen relationships and reveal things that are unknown.
