Class of 2024 C Suite Marshall Stewart CEO Dynasty Management Group

How would you describe your company? Dynasty Management Group (DMG) was created in October 2022 and serves as a guiding force for the diverse portfolio of companies within the Conner-Stewart Family of Businesses, that each excel in their own respective industries from agriculture and construction to energy and HVAC/electrical services. We are dedicated to ensuring stability, succession planning, and the continued success of all of our organizations. With a focus on growth and long-term sustainability, we provide strategic oversight and shared business services, including operations, accounting, IT, HR, and marketing, to ensure that each business thrives individually, but also contributes to the collective success of the entire organization. Our strength lies in our ability to unify these varied businesses under a shared commitment to integrity, innovation, and exceptional customer service.

Do you think Artificial Intelligence (AI) can take jobs in your industry? Each of the industries we operate in has a long history of embracing technological advancements. We recognize the potential of AI to improve efficiencies and enhance processes where it makes sense, especially in areas where finding quality employees can be a challenge. People are finite and automation can play a key role in supplementing the workforce where we may experience shortages.

However, our core focus remains on our employees and customers. One of our most important values is exceeding customer expectations and delivering an exceptional customer experience. While AI can certainly play a role in supporting our operations, it cannot replace the human relationships and personal connections that are vital in our industries. These relationships are built on trust, empathy, and understanding, qualities that are essential to our success and that AI cannot replicate.

Which skills do you think are most important when it comes to leadership? When it comes to leadership, one of the most important skills is leading by example. If you’re not willing to do the hard work or make difficult decisions, people won’t follow your lead. Demonstrating a strong work ethic, accountability, and a willingness to step in wherever needed sets the tone for the entire team. Beyond that, effective decision-making and the ability to stay focused in challenging situations are crucial. Clear communication is also key, as it helps ensure alignment and trust across the team. These skills combined with a commitment to integrity and continuous learning, are what I see as the foundation of strong leadership.

What’s your favorite movie or television show? I don’t watch much television or movies, but when I do, it’s usually college football. There’s something about the energy and tradition of the sport that keeps me engaged.

If you had $1 million to give, what would you support? I would put it toward initiatives that support early childhood development. While we’ve supported the backpack program in the past to meet the immediate needs of hungry children, we recognize that the foundation for a child’s future success starts much earlier. Investing in programs that ensure children have access to proper nutrition, education, and resources help them focus on growing and learning without the burden of unmet basic needs. Supporting our youth in these formative years is a priority because it not only shapes their individual futures but also strengthens our communities as a whole. Ensuring that every child has the tools they need to thrive is an investment in a brighter, more equitable future for everyone.

If you could change one thing about your leadership style, what would it be and why? Leadership is something that constantly evolves, and I believe it’s important to always be learning and adjusting leadership styles, especially as organizations grow and change. Whether it’s finding new ways to communicate more effectively or adapting decision-making strategies to fit the situation, growth is always possible. I view leadership as an ongoing process of development, with the goal of continually adapting to meet the needs of the team and the organization.

If you could trade places with anyone for a day, who would it be and why? Honestly, I’ve never really thought about trading places with anyone. I feel fortunate and grateful for the opportunities and experiences I’ve had in both my personal and professional life. Every day brings its own unique challenges and rewards, and I wouldn’t trade that for anything.

What are your thoughts on working from home? We are very much an employee-focused organization, and we want each of our employees to succeed. In many of our industries and roles, being in the field or having boots on the ground is essential to getting the job done effectively. While we recognize the value of flexible work arrangements, including working from home, we also understand how important a positive workplace culture is to a successful business. It’s hard to foster that sense of connection and collaboration if everyone is remote. So, we believe in a balanced approach versus one that meets the needs of the business while also supporting our employees’ well-being and work-life balance.

What is the best business advice someone has ever given you? The best business insight I’ve gained didn’t come as direct advice, but rather through observing and learning from successful people over the years. I’ve found that success isn’t just about the career or industry you choose, it’s more about the characteristics of the individual. Everyone has their own unique strengths and weaknesses, and the key is to leverage your strengths while continuously working on your weaknesses. It’s this mindset that drives growth and resilience, no matter what field you’re in.

How significant to you is developing a diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) culture within your organization? Developing a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion is important to fostering a positive business environment within our organization. We believe that culture is the backbone of any successful business, team, or organization. When our employees feel valued, supported, and empowered, they are more engaged and productive. It’s essential that everyone feels welcome and has the opportunity to thrive. By prioritizing the well-being, growth, and development of our diverse workforce, we not only enhance employee satisfaction but also drive excellence across our portfolio of businesses. We are also committed to ensuring that we have the best people in each position, recognizing that a diverse range of perspectives strengthens our ability to achieve collective success.

What is the most used app on your phone? It really depends on the day, but needless to say, phone and text are pretty active every day. Staying connected with the team, handling business, and keeping communication flowing are key parts of my routine.
