Summit Utilities, Inc. named Todd Jacobs as executive vice president and chief operating officer on Wednesday (Aug. 28). Based in Little Rock, Jacobs brings 18 years of energy sector experience to his new role at Summit.

Previously, he was senior vice president of growth and strategy at Black Hills Corp. where he led state operations in Arkansas and Kansas, focusing on customer and growth strategies.

“I am thrilled to return to Arkansas and join the talented team at Summit Utilities. This is an exciting opportunity to build on Summit’s strong foundation and continue advancing a customer-focused approach that ensures reliable, safe, and innovative energy solutions,” said Jacobs. “I look forward to contributing to the company’s future success and working closely with our customers and communities across the region.”

“Todd Jacobs has a proven record of leadership and innovation, particularly in the regions where we operate,” said Summit’s President and CEO Kurt Adams. “His expertise and commitment to operational excellence will help ensure Summit remains a leader in safely delivering reliable natural gas to all our customers.”

Jacobs has served as an active-duty Army officer with the First and Second Infantry Divisions. He has a bachelor’s degree from the Virginia Military Institute, a Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, and is a graduate of The Executive Program, an advanced management program at the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business.

“We are glad to have Todd Jacobs back in Arkansas, and we are confident he will be an outstanding addition to our expanding executive team in the State,” said Kevin Crass, a member of Summit’s Board of Directors. “With his extensive experience, he will lead the Summit team and play a crucial role in shaping our energy future with responsibility and innovation.”

Jacobs succeeds Jason Weekley, who was Summit’s COO since 2018. Weekley played a pivotal role in overseeing a growing operations team through multiple acquisitions and transitions.

“Jason Weekley has been a driving force behind Summit’s growth and success for the past several years. Under Jason’s leadership Summit has earned a reputation for its strong safety culture and as an innovator within our industry,” said Adams.
