Class of 2024 Forty Under 40 Calvin Mastin Vice President of Strategy ArcBest, Fort Smith

Calvin Mastin is using his natural competitiveness to find ways to make ArcBest the very best at what it does.

“I want to see us be the best,” Mastin said. “I feel that if our company succeeds, then we are setting the organization up for generations to come for success in Fort Smith.”

During his 15 years with ArcBest, Mastin has immersed himself in the company’s operations, customer base and strategy, learning about its transportation and logistics services and market history. He has analyzed pricing trends and collaborated with sales and operations to ensure the company provided the right solutions at the right price, maintained legacy accounts and continued growing the business.

On the strategy side, Mastin has managed the company’s merger and acquisition efforts and strategy management tools and led its market and competitor research.

In 2017, he was heavily involved in ArcBest’s Enhanced Market Approach, a strategic initiative in which the company realigned its structure and go-to-market approach to operate as a fully integrated logistics company under the ArcBest brand.

He also played a role in four acquisitions and two divestitures at ArcBest, including the company’s most recent acquisition of Molo Solutions in 2021 and the divestiture of FleetNet America in 2023.

Mastin has been a volunteer board member for the Arkansas Best Federal Credit Union (ABFCU) since 2018, assuming the role of chairman in 2023. As chairman, he leads quarterly meetings and actively supports the ABFCU president. Through this experience, Mastin has expanded his knowledge of the banking and finance industry, growing his skill set and applying this understanding in his current role at ArcBest.
