California-based Berkley, a major packaging vendor for Walmart Inc., closed a deal recently to acquire Sisco Corp. (also known as Sisco Box or Sisco Container), a family-owned business based in Nashville, Ill. The financial terms were not disclosed.

Sisco’s 14 employees now work for Berkley, which designs, manufactures and assembles retail displays and packaging. Based in Los Angeles, Berkley first opened a Northwest Arkansas office in 2016. Approximately half of its 68 employees work in the region. Berkley owns a 78,000-square-foot Lowell warehouse at 316 Commercial Ave., and leases about 9,900 square feet of design space inside a 41,510-square-foot building at 1001 S. 52nd St. in Rogers.

“We are thrilled to welcome Sisco Corp. to the Berkley team,” co-founder and CEO Eric Berkley said. “Their dedication to quality and community mirrors our own values, making this a natural and exciting fit. We look forward to leveraging their expertise and equipment to better serve our customers and continue our history of growth.”

Berkley said the acquisition is largely driven by Walmart suppliers’ needs for a nimble corrugated manufacturing and co-packing solution in the Midwest. Established 50 years ago, Sisco has built a strong reputation for manufacturing high-quality corrugated boxes and displays.

“The addition of Sisco’s manufacturing capabilities enhances our ability to provide top-tier packaging solutions more efficiently,” Berkley said.

Earlier this year, Walmart chose Berkley to manage its massive Annual Event in 2024. Annual Event is the term describing what is undoubtedly the retail giant’s most important time of the year. It has evolved from “Black Friday” to encompass nearly the entire month of November to kick off the in-store holiday shopping season.
