MISO names Eric Miller new chief information security officer

Carmel, Ind.-based regional transmission organization Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) has promoted Eric Miller to vice president and chief information security officer, according to a Friday (March 1) news release. Keri Glitch, who was chief information security officer, left MISO in June 2023 for another opportunity.

Miller had served as executive director in digital technology since joining MISO in 2020. He works at the company’s headquarters and joins the leadership team. His responsibilities include managing physical and cybersecurity and technology infrastructure and operations.

Also, Miller represents MISO as a Midwest Reliability Organization board member and on the North American Electric Reliability Corp.’s Reliability and Security Technical Committee.

“I look forward to stepping into this new role at MISO,” Miller said. “I’m excited about leading a world-class team of professionals who are committed to a safe, secure and reliable bulk electric system.”

Before joining MISO, Miller worked in technology and cybersecurity leadership roles for industries, such as defense, healthcare and manufacturing. He started his career as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army.

Miller graduated from Bowling Green State University with an MBA and Johns Hopkins University with a master’s degree in systems engineering. He recently completed the Chief Information Security Officer Executive Education and Certificate Program at Carnegie Mellon University’s Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy. He has multiple cybersecurity certificates, including certified cloud security professional and certified information system security professional with advanced specialties in architecture as an information systems security architecture professional and engineering as an information systems security engineering professional.

MISO manages the flow of high-voltage electricity across Manitoba, Canada, and 15 U.S. states, including a portion of Arkansas. Along with its headquarters in Carmel, MISO also has three regional offices, including one in Little Rock.
