With the recent retirement of Kelvin Buncum as the head of Walmart’s Neighborhood Market formats, the retailer announced Kyle Kinnard will take over the duties as senior vice president and market leader for the grocery format.

Cedric Clark, head of operations for Walmart U.S., made the announcement on social media Friday (March 15).

Kinnard, like many other top execs at Walmart, began his 22-year career at Sam’s Club as a cashier in Springdale. He also held several club-level leadership roles in Sam’s Club U.S. including the manager of Club No. 4969 in Bentonville, director of operations, senior director of global leverage and divisional merchandise manager of fresh meats and seafood.

He also supported Sam’s Club internationally as the director of operations in China and most recently senior vice president of Sam’s Club Mexico.

“Kyle (Kinnard) brings a deep-seated knowledge of operational transformation, item merchandising and inventory management. His international experiences will also help Walmart U.S. learn best practices from our strong international businesses. He is passionate about taking care of people and investing in their development and will continue to strengthen an already impressive team,” Clark noted in the announcement.
