Advanced energy career event to take place in March
Arkansas energy and workforce groups are collaborating to host the first emPOWER Arkansas Expo to raise awareness about the advanced energy sector and the careers that are available in the industry, according to a Tuesday (Feb. 13) news release. It’s expected to be an annual event.
Arkansas Advanced Energy Foundation, Arkansas Apprenticeship Alliance, Arkansas Office of Skills Development and Greentech Renewables will host the event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 13 at the Saline County Career and Technical Campus in Benton.
Event attendees are expected to include professionals, job seekers and students. There will be interactive industry booths, career and educational presentations, live career coaching and job interviews. According to the release, it’s expected to be more than a career fair and “aims to provide students with early exposure to the opportunities in this burgeoning field well before they embark on their job search.” The event is also expected to provide industry leaders with updates on the newest technology.
“I am thrilled to witness the transformative impact this advanced energy industry and career event will have on the workforce landscape in Arkansas,” said April Ambrose, director of workforce development for the Arkansas Advanced Energy Foundation. “By providing students and adults with firsthand exposure to this dynamic sector through immersive experiences, live hiring opportunities and invaluable career coaching, we are not only building a strong and skilled workforce but also propelling our state to be a leader in this space.”
The advanced energy industry includes technology and economic activity such as energy efficiency, demand response, solar, wind, hydro, nuclear, electric vehicles, alternative fuels and smart grid. Industry careers comprise contractors, consultants, marketing and finance.
