Omar Mejia believes everyone deserves a chance to own a home. At Arvest, he is helping as many people as he can realize that American Dream.
“When I say home ownership, I mean obtainable and affordable home ownership, which in Northwest Arkansas is a little difficult because of how many people we have in our area,” he said. Mejia’s parents were dreaming of providing a better life for their family when they immigrated to Rogers from El Salvador when he was 6.
While attending Rogers High School in 2002, he began a job as a part-time teller at Arvest as part of a school/work program and with the encouragement of his sister, who was in banking. Mejia worked his way up to branch manager over Arvest’s Rogers locations in 2008 and became a vice president in 2012, managing Arvest’s downtown Rogers branch. Mejia received an associate degree from NorthWest Arkansas Community College before completing his bachelor’s degree in organizational management at John Brown University in 2014. In 2016, Mejia joined the mortgage group, taking on his current position. He has two lenders reporting to him. His next goal is to become a mortgage loan manager with a larger team working for him.
Named one of the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals’ top 250 Latino Mortgage Originators in the nation for the past three years, Mejia has been honored three times as one of Arvest’s Best of the Best, which highlights the top 16 producers of all mortgage lenders.
On the Circle of Life Hospice board, he’s had various roles on the NWA Mortgage Bankers Association board, including president, and currently serves as legislative chair.
Mejia enjoys pickleball and mountain biking.
