City Electric Supply, a Dallas-based electrical wholesale distributor, recently opened a Lowell store as the family-owned company continues to expand across the United States.

The 10,000-square-foot store at 203 Commercial Ave. opened following four months of renovations. It’s the company’s fifth in Arkansas. Others are in Alexander, Batesville, Conway and Jonesboro.

“We finished all the demolitions and built the counter space out, but we had to quickly move all of our material into our current building,” said branch manager Austin Love. “Everything is completed and looks the way the team wants, so we’re happy to have the doors open for others to see the hard work.”

The Arkansas native has worked for the company for five years.

“I’m from right outside of Northwest Arkansas. I got out of college and found an electrical company that was hiring,” said Love, who met district manager Rusty Priest early in his career. “I met Rusty, and I worked with him while I learned about the industry. The two of us found our way to CES, and I couldn’t be happier to open this location and get to work.”

The Lowell store is open to the public and has seven staff, including operations manager Will Morgan and outside salesman Quin Rogers.

“We are thrilled to have CES Lowell open after working extremely hard on the renovation process,” Priest said. “Austin and his team have been very involved from the very beginning. I know they are excited to service the customer base here in Lowell, and I am excited to see what this branch accomplishes.”

Over the past five years, the company has doubled in size, adding more than 100 U.S. stores. In 2022, it opened 21 stores and three fulfillment centers across the United States.

City Electric Supply was founded in 1951 by Tom Mackie in the United Kingdom and expanded to the United States in 1983. The company has more than 3,000 employees in over 550 stores across the United States.
