Former UA Little Rock basketball coach Steve Shields has joined Carty & Co. in the public finance office. Shields has been serving as the city of North Little Rock’s director of Parks and Recreation.

“Having spent the last two and a half years overseeing North Little Rock’s 39 parks, five community centers, and approximately 250 employees, Steve knows the importance that municipal infrastructure has on the quality of life in our communities, and he is going to use this opportunity to make a statewide impact,” said Edmond Hurst, Carty & Co.’s Head of Public Finance.

Carty & Co.’s Senior Vice President and Little Rock office manager, Rush “Buddy” Harding, IV, played basketball for Shields in college. “Shields’ teams refused to be outworked, met every challenge head on, and would never shy away from adversity. Shields is bringing this same mindset to our team here at Carty & Co., and I have no doubt he will quickly be just as successful in this business.”

Carty & Company, Inc. is a full-service investment broker/dealer headquartered in Memphis with more than 50 years of experience in fixed income sales and trading. In 2022, the firm took on new shareholders in Little Rock and opened an office in the city.
