Augusta-based ARcare has acquired Polk Pharmacy in England, Arkansas. Terms of the private transaction were not disclosed.

Owned by Scott Polk since 1992 when he purchased Danley Drug, the pharmacy will be renamed ARcare Pharmacy during the first quarter of 2023. ARcare will add a Doc’s Soda Shoppe to the location by summer of 2023.

Polk has accepted a position with ARcare as senior vice president of retail pharmacy.

“I’d like to thank the people of England and surrounding communities for the incredible support they have shown to me and my family over the years,” he said. “Being a pharmacist in my hometown has been the opportunity of a lifetime, and I will forever cherish the memories and friendships. As the pharmacy transitions to the ARcare network, and I join the ARcare team, I am confident patients will receive the same high standard of care and quality service that they have come to expect.”

“We are thrilled to expand our community pharmacy network to England,” said Talmage J. Whitehead, president of ARcare. “It’s a wonderful community and has been served by some fabulous pharmacists over its history. That will not change. We expect the community of England to receive the same great service as it has for decades. We hope to serve more people in England and the surrounding area as we live our mission to provide health for all.”

ARcare is a 40-year old healthcare organization with 75 clinics throughout the tri-state service area of Arkansas, Mississippi and Kentucky.
