Central Arkansas legislative races good for incumbents; Conway House race decided by 4 votes
If you ever wondered if your vote counts, the House District 56 race in Conway is the poster child for voting.
Incumbent Rep. Steve Magie, D-Conway, won his challenge from Republican Trent Minner by 4 votes. The unofficial results in the race with all votes counted were:
House District 56
Rep. Steve Magie – D 48.39%
Trent Minner – R 48.34%
Howard Heffington – L 3.27%
There are still provisional ballots as well as overseas and military ballots to be counted, so the outcome of this race is not close to over. The Faulkner County Election Commission is expected to meet Monday to consider action on this race.
In other legislative races, incumbent Democrats and Republicans held their seats with the exception of Democratic Rep. David Fielding in south Arkansas. Fielding, D-Magnolia, was defeated by Republican challenger Wade Andrews 54.5-45.5%.
