Class of 2022 Forty Under 40 Lindsay Young Owner Nu Marketing, Rogers

Lindsay Young’s career path started in an industry she didn’t envision when attending college — construction.

“If you’d told me I’d work for design and construction firms and help them with marketing — I didn’t even know what that meant,” she joked. “I just wanted a job.”

It turns out that marketing is tailor-made for the Kansas native. One year after earning a management degree in 2005 from Pittsburg (Kan.) State, a general contracting company in Wichita hired Young for a marketing position. During the next eight years, she worked for two similar firms and started marketing departments from the ground up. She also earned an MBA from Pitt State in 2008.

With a growing business network, Young did freelance work for some smaller firms. The demand and long hours showed her there was a need in the marketplace, so she went for it.

In 2014, Young founded Nu Marketing, a one-woman firm with clients from coast to coast. At a given point, Young has between 15 and 20 clients, ranging from architects, engineers, construction companies, subcontractors and developers.

“I found a niche, and I love it,” she said. “I can help a lot of different companies.”

Young and her husband moved to Northwest Arkansas in 2017 to be near Beaver Lake. She said the business has continued to grow in Northwest Arkansas. Young will hire the agency’s first full-time employee this year, and her goal is a consultancy that will match the region’s growth.

Young presents at industry conferences around the country and is a frequent speaker on marketing topics, including personal branding, networking, and effectively using social media.

Young is a board member for regional chapters of the Society for Marketing Professional Services and the National Association of Women in Construction.
