Growing up, Alex Font was interested in building things and had various builders’ sets, including Lego and Lincoln Logs.
Initially, he thought he would be an architect but was better at math than art. Naturally, he set out to become a structural engineer. The Little Rock native also said that when he was young, Frank Allison, an owner of Engineering Consultants, took notice of his interest and encouraged him to pursue a career as a structural engineer.
“He said, ’You go get an engineering degree, and I’ll give you a job,’” Font said.
In 2009, Font earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Arkansas. The following year, he started full-time with Engineering Consultants in Little Rock after working for the company over the summer. He worked remotely to complete a master’s degree in civil engineering with an emphasis in structures. He earned the degree from the UA in 2014.
While attending the UA, he met the woman he would marry. After returning to central Arkansas, he looked for an opportunity to return to Northwest Arkansas to raise a family.
In 2017, he relocated to Northwest Arkansas to grow and develop business and client relationships in the area. Font serves as the primary point of contact, structural design engineer and project manager on multiple projects. Some projects he’s worked on include The Jones Center renovation in Springdale, UA’s Adohi Hall and Ledger in Bentonville.
He’s a founding member of The Summit Church — Bentonville, served on the judging committee for an affordable housing project for Habitat for Humanity of Benton County and provided engineering support for multiple projects at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art. Font enjoys mountain and gravel biking.
