Arkansas Children’s Hospital achieves seven specialty service rankings

Arkansas Children’s Hospital made the U.S. News & World Report’s “Best” list for pediatric hospitals in a record seven speciality areas. The state’s only pediatric health system also achieved a “Best” ranking in the specialty area of cancer for the first time in the hospital’s history.

Little Rock-based ACH ranked 42 for cancer treatment among 200 children’s hospitals in the survey rankings. The rankings put ACH in the top 50 pediatric hospitals in seven specialty areas. ACH ranked 29 for Diabetes & Endocrinology speciality areas and No.24 for Pulmonary & Lung Surgery. The hospital’s other “best” rankings include cardiology (44), nephrology (34), neurology (48) and urology (40).

“These record rankings validate the journey Arkansas Children’s is on as we strive to create a future where every Arkansas child can reach their full potential,” said Arkansas Children’s President & CEO Marcy Doderer.

She said the entire Arkansas Children’s team is to be congratulated because the rankings indicate ACH is committed to industry best practices, emphasizing safe care and delivering some of the nation’s best outcomes for kids.

Opinions of U.S. pediatric specialists factor in the rankings, as do resources including technologies and treatments available, the release states. Arkansas Children’s also placed seventh in regional rankings for the Southeast Region which includes pediatric hospitals from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.

Boston Children’s Hospital and Texas Children’s in Houston ranked first and second, respectively, in the overall report. In the Southeast region where ACH competes, the top ranking hospitals were Children’s Hospital of Alabama in Birmingham, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville who each tied for the top spot.
