Carty & Co. hires Edmond Hurst to lead public finance division

Carty & Co. of Memphis hired veteran public finance banker Edmond Hurst of Little Rock to lead the firm’s national Public Finance and Capital Markets division. Hurst has worked in public finance for nearly 30 years with Little Rock-based Crews & Associates.

Carty & Co. is a full-service investment broker/dealer located in Memphis. The firm is nationally recognized and has over 50 years of experience in fixed income trading and sales. It is licensed in 52 states and territories.

“Carty & Co. is excited to have someone with Edmond’s experience to build and grow our firm’s public finance business,” said CEO Bill Carty.

Hurst has a wide range of taxable and tax-exempt financing experience. He began his investment banking career selling bonds at the age of 20 while attending college full time in the evening and weekends. He transitioned into public finance early in his career.

“I found that I really enjoyed working with people to help improve our communities, like new hospitals, schools, affordable housing, economic development, and more. I am excited to build a team of professionals with that same passion,” said Hurst.

Hurst will be based in the firm’s new Little Rock office. He is an honor graduate from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
